How can you get involved?

Most of the stories we know and love today started out as thousands and thousands of little tales told to communities of people across the globe, passed down from parents to children, through many generations. Through the medium of storytelling, they took on new life, changing their shape and taking on new cultural and periodic details with each telling but always retaining their essence.

It is with this thought that I ask you to join me in continuing to tell the tales of The One Thousand and One Nights by getting involved in the "1001 Nights: A Visual Retelling" project, for which you are invited to create your own version of the stories.

What do I need to do?

Choose one of the illustrations from my collection, then, using either the image itself or the story attached, create your own version in any medium.

You could:

Write your own version

Draw your own interpretation

Write a song inspired by the story

Make a set where the story takes place

Invent a dialogue between two or more of the story's main characters

The possibilities are endless.

When you have completed your version, send me a digital copy (along with your name and any comments, social media/website links you want to share on this site) and I will add it to the online gallery of stories.

I am working towards holding an exhibition of all the work where there will be live storytelling and drawing social events, as well as workshops that encourage creative writing and drawing for all ages.

I do hope that you enjoy this project and decide to get involved!

Warm wishes,

Bryony
